Ranking 8 World Cup Powerhouses Through EAFC 26 Icon, Hero and Legend Card Data#

Eight World Cup Giants, Eight Dream Attacking Lines#

June 23, 2026

Hello everyone, Long Zuiri here. The World Cup is football gaming’s eternal theme, and the sheer volume and outsized numbers of EAFC 26’s Icons, Heroes and world tournament special cards finally make cross-generation dream teams — the stuff of “what if legends from different eras shared a pitch” — a reality. This time I’m skipping the controls talk: purely on personal feel and nostalgia, I’ve picked eight traditional powerhouses and built each one the attacking setup that best represents its footballing philosophy, then handed out my own star ratings.

One warning up front: every star rating and overall score here is my own subjective judgment, based mainly on how the Icon, Hero and world tournament cards perform in the EAFC 26 database. This is not official data, and there is no absolute answer to who is strongest. Argue with me in the comments when you’re done reading.

Some background first. For EAFC 26’s overall systems, formations and card acquisition, the site already has complete coverage: the EAFC 26 guide hub; for Ultimate Team squad-building ideas, see the Ultimate Team guide; for picking up international tournament cards to run a World Cup squad, see the World Cup mode guide; and for how packs and promos actually work, read this piece on card pools and promo events. On to the main event.

1. Brazil#

Attack rating: ★★★★★ | Overall: 97 — In my book this is the undisputed greatest attacking line ever assembled. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Pelé as a trident blend flair and efficiency, and I struggle to find an answer to it anywhere.

2. Argentina#

I didn’t push Argentina to the very top because the midfield steel and forward depth fall a touch short, but the genius of the Messi-Maradona double pivot covers most of what’s missing.

3. France#

Attack rating: ★★★★★ | Overall: 95 — Henry’s power plus Mbappé’s pure pace is a nightmare for any back line, with Zidane conducting from the middle — French elegance and pragmatic efficiency fused into one.

4. England#

Attack rating: ★★★★☆ | Overall: 92 — The midfield creativity is genuinely frightening: Beckham’s whipped crosses plus Scholes and Lampard from range. But the historic star power up front trails Brazil and France slightly, hence four and a half stars.

5. Italy#

Attack rating: ★★★★☆ | Overall: 94 — Italy’s back line is all-time elite, and up front the individuals can’t quite match Brazil or France — but with Baggio’s inspiration and Pirlo’s orchestration, this side still plays gorgeous, patient possession football.

6. Netherlands#

Attack rating: ★★★★★ | Overall: 95 — Van Basten, Cruyff and Robben form the most technically rich attack in the entire exercise — Total Football’s Dutch philosophy on full display.

7. Germany#

Germany gets a five-star attack line but only a 93 overall, because it trails Brazil and France in technical flourish — its edge is discipline and physicality. Gerd Müller’s box instinct plus Beckenbauer’s libero orchestration are the engine room of the German war machine.

8. Spain#

Attack rating: ★★★★☆ | Overall: 93 — Xavi and Iniesta’s midfield is the historical benchmark for possession football, but the forward line’s star power trails the other giants slightly — four and a half stars for a side that wins through its system.

My Attacking Line Rankings at a Glance#

My surprise package: the Netherlands. The Van Basten and Cruyff Icon combo rates extremely high, and with Robben cutting in from the right, the attack’s technical quality and rating outrank traditional heavyweights like Germany and Italy — the biggest climber on my personal board.

How to Get These Icons and Heroes#

Plenty of the cards in these line-ups are not easy to obtain in EAFC 26, so here are the main routes:

One caveat: these costs are rough references based on the market at the time of writing — the transfer market swings hard, and prices can shift dramatically with any version update. For the finer points of buying low and selling high, see the site’s transfer market guide; for building your starting coin stack, the beginner’s guide has the route.

My Closing Thoughts#

These eight line-ups each carry their own flavor: Brazil is samba flair, the Netherlands is the freedom of Total Football, Argentina is the spark of genius, Germany is steel discipline. Together they showcase football’s aesthetics across different eras and nations. As for which is strongest — there is no standard answer, because card ratings shift with version updates, and your attachment to a particular line-up is often the real factor that decides how strong it feels.

If you have your own favorite, tell me which attacking line you consider the greatest of all time — let’s hash it out in the comments.

All line-ups and star ratings above are subjective judgments based on the strongest card versions in the EAFC 26 database. Actual in-game acquisition difficulty and prices may vary by version; treat this as reference only.
