1.3 Counter-Strafing Technique#
How counter-strafing works:

- Tapping the opposite direction key brings you to a stop faster
- Different weapons have different stop times
Counter-strafe practice method:
- Practice counter-strafing on a training map
- Go from moving to fully stationary as quickly as you can
- Fire the instant you stop
- Gradually raise your stop speed and accuracy
When to stop:
| Weapon | Stop time | Technique |
|---|---|---|
| AK-47 | Longer | You need to stop earlier |
| M4A4 | Medium | Standard counter-strafe timing |
| SMGs | Shorter | You can stop later |
| Sniper rifles | Longest | Come to a complete stop before firing |
1.4 Recoil Control#
How spray control works:
AK-47 spray pattern:
- First 5 bullets: the crosshair climbs upward
- Bullets 6-10: up and then to the right
- Bullets 11-15: to the left
- Bullets 16-20: to the right
- Beyond 20 bullets: the spread becomes very wide
M4A4 spray pattern:
- First 5 bullets: the crosshair climbs upward
- Bullets 6-10: up and then to the left
- Bullets 11-15: to the right
- Bullets 16-20: to the left
- Overall easier to control than the AK
Recoil practice advice:
- Practice on the Recoil Master map
- Start with 3-round bursts
- Gradually work up to 10-round sprays
- Finally master the full 20-bullet spray
